Description
This open pollinated variety of ornamental flax produces brilliant red flowers that are 1.5″ in diameter. This mid to late blooming variety is a hardy annual.
Flax – Scarlet – Linum grandiflorum rubrum
Soil & Water: Requires full sun and light water, preferring loose, sandy soil. Scarlet flax tolerates heat and drought too.
Planting & Growing: Loosen the top two inches of soil and mix seed with 10 parts vermiculite. Broadcast this mix over the area to be planted in the spring. Compress soil and cover lightly with compost or straw. Seedlings need moderate water, but the plants can tolerate drier conditions later. (See above.)
