I’ve been gardening my entire life.  Literally.

Before I could walk, my parents had me out in the garden with them, and once I could walk, the garden became my pasture for grazing.

They planted important seeds in me – love for God’s creation, enjoyment of working with my hands, and an appreciation for the thought and effort that goes into growing food.

I’m doing similar work with my seven children, working to pass on the legacy of gardening to them.  We’ve done this for years now – my oldest daughter has been in the garden helping since she could walk.

I’ve been looking for a long time for an opportunity to have my kids work alongside me and to work with each other, and one winter I had an epiphany.

Our family loves heirloom seeds and vegetables, so why not share them with others?

That’s me – munching on a bean.

So I decided to start a small cottage industry as a way to give my children an opportunity to work together with me in a family business.

Seeds for Generations is born!

Our family business sells heirloom vegetable seeds and related gardening products.

This is a way for my kids to learn hard work, diligence, and teamwork, and is a great supplement to their homeschooling curriculum.

We’ve named it Seeds for Generations for several reasons:

  • The business is a vehicle for passing on a love for heirloom seeds and gardening to our descendants
  • We will help expand the circle of people reconnecting with the land and growing more of their own food
  • All life and economic activity ultimately comes from two physical sources: the land and the sun.  More people growing means more people literally using seeds for generating life and productivity, an important activity in our consumer economy that’s coming apart at the seams.

So whether you’re just starting your gardening adventure this year, or already have seedlings growing now, please consider supporting our family’s effort to plant seeds in our children and our world that will yield a fruitful increase in the months and years to come.

We are always looking to expand our seed selection based upon our profits and customer feedback, so please let us know what varieties you want us to add by taking this brief survey.

We sell 100% heirloom/open pollinated seeds on our site! (We grow all of our crops personally without pesticides. However, we do source some seeds from other suppliers, and those aren’t always organic. In those cases, the organic status is clearly stated in the product details.)

Also, we don’t sell GMOs and have taken the Safe Seed Pledge.

Many thanks for your support for our family venture, Seeds for Generations.

Please share our business with your friends and family, and don’t forget to plant seeds every day.

Abundant blessings,
Jason & Shannon Matyas
