Description
Beautiful medicinal herb that produces small daisy-like flowers that are used to make chamomile tea. Self-seeding annual.
Chamomile – Common (German Chamomile, Hungarian Chamomile) – Matricaria recutita
Soil & Water: Prefers rich soil (6.1-7.5 pH) and low to moderate water.
Planting & Growing: Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow on the surface, as light is required for germination. Transplant when seedlings are 1-2″ high. Or direct sow just under the surface in the spring or fall. Don’t fertilize.
Harvesting & Storage: Harvest flowers at their prime. Use fresh or dried. Leaves may also be used.
