Description

Even if you’ve never seen it before, the red pear tomato isn’t a new variety! In fact, it originates to colonial times. These 1-2″ cherry tomatoes in a pear or teardrop shape can be popped right into your mouth or used for making sauces, roasting, and more. Indeterminate.

Tomato – Red Pear – Solanum lycopersicum

Soil & Water: Give fertile soil rich in organic matter. Add plenty of compost prior to planting. Soil pH is preferred between 5.5-7.0. Water deeply and consistently to avoid blossom end rot.

Planting & Growing: Sow seeds in flats 6-8 weeks before the last frost and thin to 2″ after the first true leaves appear. Before transplanting after the last frost, harden off the plants by placing them outdoors for a few hours moving up to a full day of sunlight.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when individual fruits give slightly under finger pressure; the shoulders may not have changed color yet.
