Description
This is one of the top spinach varieties available! It produces giant spinach leaves that are perfect for eating, cooking, canning, and freezing. Better still, this variety is slow to bolt!
Spinach – Giant Nobel – Spinacia oleracea
Soil & Water: Spinach prefers loose, well-drained soil with moderate nutrients enriched with plenty of added organic matter. Soil pH preference is 6.5-7.5.
Planting & Growing: In spring, start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost, and set out 3-6 weeks before the last frost date. Spinach prefers cool weather and can handle light frosts. For a fall crop, sow seeds in a protected area 8 weeks before the first frost. Cover with a floating row cover or a frost blanket to increase cold tolerance.
Harvesting & Storage: Treat spinach as a cut-and-come again plant, or harvest outside leaves individually. Use fresh, freeze, or can.
