Description
Crinkled leaves give a peppery taste to salads. Looks similar to curley parsley but the taste is unmistakable. Resists bolting. Several cuttings can be made from single plant. Very frost-tolerant.
Greens – Pepper (Wrinkled) Cress – Lepidium sativum
Soil and Water: Thrives in fertile, well-drained but moist soil, with a pH between 6.0 to 6.8. Requires even moisture. Do not allow the roots to dry out. Prefers partial shade.
Planting and Growing: Easy to grow by direct seeding in early spring or in late summer for a fall and winter harvest. Can plant in successions every 2 weeks for a continued harvest of greens. Thin seedlings to about 1″ spacing. Can become pungent and inedible in hot weather.
Harvesting & Storage: Cut above the growth point for a cut-and-come-again or harvest the whole plant. Plants will regrow very quickly. Can refrigerate cuttings up to a week.
